Crowd Pleasing Thanksgiving Buffet Style Tablescape

Do You Have a Crowd to Feed at Thanksgiving?

Are you having a crowd over for the Thanksgiving, and still want to create some sort of tablescape that’s beautiful and functional, but not sure how to set that up? No problem! I got you covered! This buffet style tablescape is as pretty as it is functional.

Simply arrange Thanksgiving centerpiece on table as usual or you could even off-set it like I did. Then place all the plates, glasses, silverware, napkins in front of centerpiece. Once everyone has grabbed their dinnerware, the table is now ready to accommodate sitting.

By the way, if you have a fairly decent size island, you could set this up there as well.

Nature-Inspired Tablescapes Don’t Have to Be Blah and Void of Color

For this nature-inspired Thanksgiving tablescape, I wanted to show you that a little shot of color can have a big impact without shouting at you. The trick to making this work is to use subdued colors – colors similar to those found in the dinnerware or items used in the centerpiece.

If you look closely, you can see that my pheasant china has shades of turquoise in it. And the chocolate trim pattern around the rim of the plate and bowl has a slight purple undertones. So to help bring a little color to the tablescape without overpowering it, I brought in subdued colors of turquoise and plum to compliment the china.

Walk on the Wild Side…Non-Traditional Thanksgiving Tablescape

This Thanksgiving tablescape is a bit non-traditional in color, but uses traditional elements, such as the Blue Willow transferware china and Tobacco Leaf china, and the mercury glass candlesticks. It’s fun, unexpected, and I love it!

I wanted this tablescape to reflect a bit of my personal fashion style, which is fairly conservative and classic, with a bit of a twist. I like to push the envelope every now and then, often pairing patterns and colors in unexpected ways. This tablescape is a pretty good representation of that.

Designer Tip: Did you notice that the table linens on the tables weren’t really table linens? I often use scarfs and throws as part of my tablescapes, in lieu of the traditional tablecloth because it’s a great way to let your personality shine through, and you’re getting double duty use out of them….fashion to wear and fashion for home decor.
