Today is also the day for the September Edition of Designing Women Tell All and this month we’re discussing Fall Decorating.
Let’s get started, shall we?
The First Step in Turning Your Kitchen into A Charming Fall Haven
Creating a cozy sunflower-inspired color palette is the first step in turning your kitchen into a charming Fall haven. Start by considering the color scheme of your existing kitchen decor and look for ways to introduce sunflower-inspired shades into your space.
Think about incorporating the vibrant yellow of the sunflower through your choice of table place settings, accessories and textiles. Consider adding throw pillows or seat cushions that compliment your color palette. These small touches can make a big impact in the overall Fall feel of your kitchen.
To complete your sunflower-inspired color palette, don’t forget about the power of flowers. Consider adding a bouquet of sunflowers to your kitchen table, countertop, or both. Their vibrant yellow petals will not only add a burst of color, but also bring a natural element that ties in perfectly with your Fall haven theme.

Choosing The Perfect Sunflower Decor
By carefully choosing the perfect sunflower decor, you can easily infuse your kitchen with elegant rustic charm that will last all season long. As you bring in the beauty of sunflowers, it’s important to consider the different elements that can elevate your kitchen’s aesthetic and atmosphere. Be mindful though of becoming too theme-y, as this will have the exact opposite effect
One option for incorporating sunflower decor is through artwork. Look for paintings or prints that feature sunflowers in various styles, from realistic to abstract. These artistic pieces can be hung on your walls or displayed on a shelf or countertop, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication to your fall-themed kitchen.
Another way to bring sunflowers into your kitchen is through complimentary table linens and napkin rings, dish towels, and oven mitts.. These small details can make a big impact, transforming your kitchen into a cozy and inviting space.
Lastly, don’t forget about the power of scent. Look for sunflower-scented candles or other seasonal scents that will fill your kitchen with the delightful aroma of the season. Not only will these candles add a cozy glow to your space, but they will also create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Perfect Finishing Touch to Any Kitchen
The perfect finishing touch to any kitchen has to be the hot beverage station; aka, the coffee bar or hot cocoa station. Don’t you think?
I have been wanting to create this coffee bar area for a while now for two reasons: (1) I wanted a dedicated space for the coffee maker, coffee pods, and my ever-growing coffee mug collection; and (2) I despise clutter on my countertops. I’m thrilled with how it came together and even my husband prefers this location and setup. That’s a win-win in my books!
Full confession time…I’m not a hot coffee drinker, lol! My husband drinks his coffee black and hot, while I prefer mine served over ice with a shot (or two) of sugar-free syrup and cream.
So why the ever-growing collection of coffee mugs, you might be wondering? Because I can’t help myself! I love darling seasonal mugs for when I do enjoy a hot cup of tea, apple cider, or hot cocoa. Plus, they look cute and complete my themed coffee bar setup!

Kristy your home is so beautiful and your styling is pure perfection. I am also a fan of sunflowers so I really enjoyed how you brought fall into your home through the use of a variety of sunflower decor. I love the sunflower artwork!!! It is so funny that you cannot resist coffee cups buy you don’t actually drink hot coffee. I had no idea that there were syrups for coffee – now you know I am not a coffee drinker at all. Everything in your home looks so elegant!
You are so very kind, Crystal! Thank you so much for your sweet words! My husband and kids get a kick out of me not loving hot coffee but have an ever-growing coffee mug collection too, lol! It is surprising how many flavored syrups are available…and by the way, they’re not just for coffee! I’ve seen quite a few recipes using these flavored syrups for muffin and cake recipes. Who knew?
Hi Kristy! Sunflowers are the perfect transition from summer to fall! Love all the touches you added to your lovely kitchen! I hope you have a fabulous fall season!
Thanks so much, Donna! I greatly appreciate your kindness. I hope you’re having a fabulous Fall season as well!
Such great tips Kristy!!! I love your sunflower touches and fun mod to fall!

I hadn’t even considered sunflower-scented things. Sunflowers are such a happy flower. Love these ideas.
Thanks so much, Rachel! I agree, sunflowers are happy flowers! I love using them in my late Summer/early Fall decor.
Everything is gorgeous. I love sunflowers and used to use them a lot on my front porch but they got a bit shabby and have never replaced them. Now I may have to go shopping.
Thanks so much, Rosemary! Sunflowers are such happy flowers and I love using them in my late Summer/early Fall decor.
