Happy Summer Friends!
Summer decorating is one of my favorite ways to celebrate the season at home. Whether it’s the fresh pop of lemons in early June, the patriotic charm of July 4th, or the golden warmth of late summer sunflowers, there’s something special about styling your spaces to reflect the joy of the season. In this post, I’m sharing how I transition our home through each stage of summer—with simple, beautiful touches you can easily recreate.
Welcome Summer with DIY Front Door Baskets

Lemon and Hydrangea Basket by At Home With Kristy
One of my favorite ways to welcome early summer is with a cheerful DIY front door basket. I wrapped the basket with white jute and then added faux lemons, fluffy hydrangeas, blueberry picks, and a variety of summer greenery for a fresh, garden-inspired look. The bright white and yellow pops against the greenery to add instant curb appeal.
These baskets are an easy seasonal swap and a great alternative to traditional wreaths. Whether you’re using real or faux elements, this simple project sets a sunny tone for the whole season. As summer rolls into July, I love weaving in patriotic accents throughout our home. On the porch, small American flags add charm to planters, while red, white, and blue ribbons dress up my early summer door basket.
Inside, our entryway and kitchen get a festive update with striped napkins, vintage-style prints, and berry-filled bowls. These patriotic home decor touches feel timeless and can easily be layered over your existing summer style without overwhelming your space.

Late Summer Style with Sunflowers

Sunflower Decor In The Kitchen by At Home With Kristy
When late summer arrives, sunflowers steal the show in my kitchen and breakfast nook. Their golden tones blend beautifully with our white cabinet and wood floors. , light textiles, soft greenery, and of course, sunflower!
I like to incorporate them into floral arrangements, dish towels, and even wall art for a simple seasonal refresh. It’s a smooth transition from July’s bold reds and blues to a softer, golden-hued palette that hints at the season ahead without rushing fall. This theme can easily transition into fall with the subtle addition of white baby boo pumpkins.
