One Room Challenge Spring 2020 – Week 2: Operation Outdoor Oasis Refresh – The Design Concept

Outdoor Living & Dining Inspiration. Design Tips & Tricks. And more….#oneroomchallenge

Hello Friends,

Welcome back for my Week 2 progress report of Operation Outdoor Oasis Refresh for the ORC Spring 2020. This week, I’m sharing my design concept, game plan/check list, and proposed budget breakdown.

In case you’re new to my site, welcome! I’m so happy you’re here!

You can find my ORC Spring 2020 Week 1 here where I shared the backstory of why I want to update our outdoor living areas, items I plan on reusing, the budget amount I’m hoping to adhere to, as well as, showed the not so pretty before photos. I also shared why this space is requiring some TLC. Hint…it has to do with 4 legs!

I also shared the short edited version of my background and how I work with clients on Week 1 too (near the bottom of that post), and you can also check out the long version here, if you like.

A Little Reminder of Where We’re Starting and A Close Up View of The Outdoor Dining Slate Tabletop

As I mention in my Week 1 post, we’ve had this outdoor furniture for about 12 years now. Surprisingly, it’s held up really well considering it’s exposed to the elements year round. Well, minus the cushions that is. Equally surprisingly is that the outdoor wicker collection is still available. Sadly, they don’t have ready-made replacement cushions for it. I thought about having custom cushions made for them, but that was cost prohibitive, so I had to move onto Plan B…ready-made cushions.

The Proposed Budget Breakdown

Since I’m trying my best to stay at or under $2,500, I knew I had to create a budget outline to help me stay within those perimeters. Otherwise, spending can get out of control, and fast. So far, I’m managing to stay within those perimeters.

    • Thank you so much, Catherine! I’m bringing a little of our interior colors outside, but a little brighter! Since we’ll be staycationing at home this year, I wanted our outdoor spaces to surround us with beautiful color. I think it’s going to be my new happy place!!!
