With Memorial Day just a couple of days away and the 4th of July quickly approaching, I thought I would share some things I’ve done over the years to spread a little red, white, and blue throughout our home. I hope they inspire you!
Let’s Start Outside with Our Patriotic Front Porch
We have a super long and narrow front porch, which is fun to decorate per season or holiday, but it does come with its own set of challenges too. I like to tackle that challenge with what I call, divide and conquer. Our double doors are front and center, literally, so I’m able to divide the porch into sections. Unfortunately, these photos only show the front door area. I’ll try to get more photos this year showing all of it, but it’s sure to be full of red, white, and blue patriotic decor!
Moving Inside The House…First Up, The Kitchen Island
Here’s a couple of red, white, and blue Kitchen Island vignettes that I’ve created the past couple of years.
Next Up…The Breakfast Room Table
The Breakfast Room gets the Red, White, and Blue treatment too, with a tropical twist!
And Just For Fun Because It’s Red, White, and Black
Here’s Truman, one of our Great Danes in my husband’s main mode of transportation, a ’71 Ford Bronco. Truman loves to go for a ride or to Lowe’s or anywhere, really. I think that’s because he’s always BDAL (big dog at Lowe’s, haha) and gets plenty of hugs.
Funny side story for you…my husband is fairly reserved and hates to be the center of attention; however, his truck and the dogs always draw a lot of attention wherever he goes. And it’s not unusual for people to leave notes on the windshield. One time he got a note that said “Bad Ass Truck and Dog”. Another time, when he was inside Chipotle, he looked outside to find a bunch of college kids taking photos with Truman and the truck! Between you and me, I think he secretly likes the attention as much as Truman does, haha!

Thanks Wendy! If you like big dogs you would love Truman; he’s so sweet and gentle, but he might sit on your lap and give you a big slobbery kiss, lol! We do have another one, Lincoln; he’s the baby, but bigger, and just as sweet as Truman.
