French Country Vintage Christmas Dining Room

French Country Vintage Christmas Dining Room – At Home With Kristy
The Backstory of My Vintage Christmas Dining Room Is Trifold…
Firstly, I plan my Christmas decorating theme months in advance and had decided on a French Country Vintage Christmas theme this past Spring. Secondly, I knew I wanted to create a “Remembrance Table” of sorts to honor my husband’s parents, who are no longer with us. And thirdly, when a local magazine publication, Cross Timbers Lifestyle Magazine, reached out to me in early October about contributing a vintage themed holiday table to their Holidays & Giving Issues, I knew it was meant to be.
Designer Tips:
Planning your holiday theme/color scheme far in advance helps stretch decorating dollars. Keep a holiday decorating wish list and photos (in a dedicated album on your phone) of items you would like to find. Thrift stores are a gold mine for vintage dinnerware and glassware, mercury glass holiday and everyday items, and so much more.

About The Vintage Christmas Table Settings
My husband inherited his parents beautiful vintage wedding china, Noritake Glenwood pattern (circa 1959), a few years ago. I love this beautiful set and have proudly used it for Mother’s Day tablescapes before, but never thought to use it for a Christmas holiday tablescape until recently.
When I decided to do a vintage theme this year for Christmas, I knew this would be the perfect dinnerware set. To compliment the dinnerware, I used round silver plate chargers and faux cedar placemats,
I’ve had these beautiful wine goblets forever and love how they pair so perfectly with this vintage china!

About The French County Vintage Christmas Table Centerpiece
The French Country Vintage Christmas table centerpiece is a mix of old vintage-inspired and new vintage-inspired pieces.
I kept the centerpiece fairly neutral, using a white faux fur table runner as the base of the centerpiece. The focal point of the centerpiece is my vintage-inspired green and white chinoiserie ginger jar and chinoiserie black pedestal, both of which I’ve had forever. Two simple greenery swags that are adorned with pinecones, berries, and burgundy ribbons and the white sculpted trees compliment the vintage Noritake Glenwood china perfectly.

About The Christmas Chair Wreath
To me, adding an embellishment on the backs of dining room chairs completes the story I’m telling in here. To add more visual interest and texture, I hung them on the chairs with champagne colored ribbon.
I did the exact same ribbon and wreaths last year. The theme and color scheme was different, but still just as pretty. You can see last year’s Christmas Dining Room and how I hung the chair wreaths here.

About The French Country Vintage Christmas Dining Room Hutch Decor
Our dining room hutch is one of my favorite pieces to decorate for the holidays. Actually, it’s one of my favorite pieces to decorate any time of the year.
Regardless of what time of year I’m decorating the hutch, I always keep the tablescape in mind when I’m decorating the hutch. My goal is to complete the story I have going on in the room, while paying careful attention to compliment the table but not steal the show. With that in mind, I kept the hutch holiday decor fairly simple and neutral.
The top shelf displays my collection of new and vintage bottlebrush trees, in colors of gold, champagne gold, and ivory. On the center shelf, I used my vintage-inspired holiday word artwork, simple winter greenery & magnolia swag, and candlesticks with white candles. The bottom shelf displays more of our dish collection and a couple of holiday decor items. I especially love the darling white house under the glass cloche.
Designer Secret:
The holiday word art piece is strategically hung (with small clear Command hooks) on top of a piece of artwork that can be easily removed after the holidays. Here’s the piece of artwork I’m talking about. By the way, yours truly created this pastel painting masterpiece over 20 years ago.

French Country Vintage Christmas Entry Table Vignette
Our entry, which is adjacent to the dining room, received the Vintage Christmas touch too! A small tabletop vignette consisting of a mercury glass tree, a pair of pearl trees, and a small dough bough filled with Christmas baubles was all that was needed.
