French Country Coastal Christmas Tree by Kristy Mastrandonas
Hi Friends,
Welcome to my French Country Coastal Christmas Holiday Home Tour. I’m so happy you’re here!
Along with the various Christmas traditions in our home, choosing a theme and color scheme for our Christmas decor each year has been a tradition for as long as I can remember. And since the style of our home (and my design style) is French Country, our Christmas decor will typically have some sort of French Country twist to it.
This year, I decided upon a French Country Coastal Christmas theme. You won’t find a lot of seashells (although I do have some) or other decor items that you might associate with coastal design though, because it’s more about the color scheme. I’ve chosen a soft color palette in shades of blue, green, gold, champagne gold, and white, with accents of red.
Today on my holiday home tour, I’ll be sharing how I’ve decorated our Entry, Formal Dining Room, and Family Room.
French Country Coastal Christmas Home Tour – The Entry
Our main entry is a nice size, but it’s full of door openings so there are no walls for furniture. This space is more of an entry hall in front of our dining room. It’s a relatively small space, but I try to pack a punch here in all seasons. Full disclosure: This pencil Christmas tree stays up year round and sometimes gets decorated per season..

Our Formal Dining Room is really more casual elegance versus formal with slip covered dining chairs and chip painted hutch and sideboard. You can read more about my French Country Coastal Christmas Dining Room here.

French Country Coastal Christmas Tree – The Family Room

Our Family Room is the main living area in our home and where we spend most of our time, so naturally, I love to have holiday decor in here.
While the room is a fairly decent size at 19×21, it does have its challenges. For starters, I lose about 4′ – 6′ of perimeter space on two sides for the traffic pattern, therefore making the space more like 14×16.
The second challenge, is that the fireplace extends too far out, taking up valuable real estate. (Side note: The fireplace will be getting an overhaul at some point to correct this).
Lastly, there is really no ideal place for the Christmas Tree. Most years, I’ve placed the tree in the corner by the bookcase, but this year I decided to place it in the center of the window wall. Ideally, a slim or narrow tree would be best here, but I’m working with what I have.

French Country Christmas Gift-Wrapping Paper
One of my favorite things to do at Christmastime is wrapping gifts. I gather all of my beautiful gift-wrapping paper, ribbons, and other supplies, my favorite beverage of choice (if you’ve read my About page then you know) and wrap away while watching all of the sweet wholesome holiday movies.
I’ve always loved wrapping presents, even as a kid. In fact, I was the designated gift wrapper in my family. My parents would put mine and my sibling’s gifts in non-descript boxes and write our names on the boxes so I knew which name to put on the gift tag. At one point in my early teens (age 13-16), I had a little side business wrapping presents for friends. I think I charged something like $2 a gift, lol!

One thing that I’m always sure to do each year is to coordinate my gift wrapping paper with my Christmas Tree theme and color scheme. To me, it completes the story I’m telling with my tree theme and is more visually appealing.
I also love to have decorative accents on the gifts. Whether it’s ribbons and bows, greenery and berries, small ornaments, or a mixture of two or three of these decorative elements, I always embellish each present.

Kristy your home is so beautiful – just stunning. Your years as an interior designer show through as everything is perfectly done – everything is a piece of art. I am so impressed and inspired. I love that you took a decorating style, pulled out the colors and made it work without placing sea shells in you tree! So happy you participated in this share.
