Make an entrance and a lasting impression

As an interior designer, I’m constantly moving things around in my own home. I know, imagine that! Right?! While most of the big items (furniture pieces) remain in place, I do like to move accessories and wall decor around from time to time. I also love to add seasonal decor touches to my everyday decor too. And with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I decided to add just a touch of romance.

Below in our Entryway, is one of my favorite pieces of furniture. I love the demilune shape of the chest, but it’s the other details like the raised panel doors, Corinthian-like columns on the ends, and the finishes on the top and body of the piece that really make it special. I love this little area, but this hasn’t always been the case. If you follow me on Instagram (see that post here), you know this odd shaped wall has been a thorn in my side for the past 10 years. That is, until now. I think I’ve finally landed on a wall arrangement that I adore. Hallelujah!

I wanted to add a subtle touch of Valentine’s Day decor on the chest, and when I found these cute little hearts at an antiques mall near me, I knew they were just the perfect pieces. And see that magnolia painting? I painted that nearly 20 years ago. I used to paint regularly, but in the past few years, I just haven’t had the time. Hopefully, I’ll get back to it some day!

Family Room Focal Point

In the Family Room, I decided to have a little fun with the fireplace mantel decor and do something I’ve never done. Can you guess what that might be? If you guessed the wreaths on stands, you guessed correctly! I’m still not sure I’m loving it though. We’ll see! I do, however, love the book bundles with rose and mercury candlestick.

Add a little drama and romance to your table decor.

I love adding texture and nature to my decor any time of the year, and I love using them in unconventional ways. For example, I love the pine cones and faux snow in the large apothecary jar. Collect wine corks? Why not contain them and show them off at the same time in a cute jar?

Full confession here…I used to despise faux florals and greenery because they looked, well, cheap. It’s incredible how far they’ve come in recent years though, so my opinion about them is changing. Case in point is the flowers and greenery below. I think they’re a pretty good knock off of nature. Would you have known they were faux if I didn’t tell you?

Pretty table settings aren’t just for special occasions!

Our Breakfast Room is probably my favorite room in the house. It gets flooded with sunshine in the morning and is just so warm and welcoming. Plus, the French Country chandelier makes me smile every day. Seriously! I love that chandelier!

I also love having some sort of table decor on my table at all times. Not only is a pretty tablescape nice to look at, it also elevates the room and makes it feel special everyday. How about you? Do you like having a pretty centerpiece on your dining table?
