As a passionate interior designer with a penchant for creating spaces that effortlessly blend charm and sophistication, I’m excited to share with you our family’s dining room rustic elegant Easter table and hutch decor.

This year for Easter, I wanted to infuse the traditional celebration of Easter with a touch of rustic elegance, to bring warmth and style to our gathering. The goal was to create a curated rustic table setting that feels both refined and inviting.

Our home has an overall French Country style mixed with a little European Country and a smidgeon of Farmhouse style, so this rustic elegant Easter tablescape and hutch decor fits in perfectly! From the toile table runner to the simple yet enchanting centerpiece to the grapevine wreaths used as plate chargers and all of the other simple rustic decor touches, it’s the perfect blend of countryside allure and refined elegance.

An added bonus about this tablescape is that after Easter has passed, I can make a few quick decor changes for Spring and Summer!

Designer Tips:
(1) To create a captivating, layered look that adds depth and interest to your tablescape, consider layering two table runners of different widths and patterns. You can keep the colors and patterns subtle, like I did for our Easter tablescape, or you can go bright and bold depending on the look you’re wanting to achieve.
(2) Another option would be to layer a tablecloth and table throw.
(3) Think outside the box and use items that aren’t typically used on tables, such as throw blankets, scarves, or quilts. See how I’ve used the latter ideas here.

Rustic Elegant Easter Table Centerpiece on Antique Tray with Topiaries and Bunnies – At Home With Kristy

The centerpiece of our charmingly rustic Easter dining table steals the show! It boasts DIY topiaries, moss bunnies, and a bird nest adorned with Easter eggs atop an antique metal tray.

Beneath this Easter centerpiece lies a double layer of table runners. The lower one is made from leftover toile fabric, perfectly complementing our host and hostess chairs, while the upper layer is fashioned from faux linen for added elegance.

Designer Tips:
(1) Choose a focal point for your centerpiece. This will act as an anchor of the arrangement and draw attention to the centerpiece.
(2) Vary the height of your centerpiece elements to create depth and interest.
(3) Combine different textures and materials for added interest and appeal.
(4) Incorporate seasonal elements to enhance the festive atmosphere.
(5) Experiment with symmetrical and asymmetrical arrangements and choose the design that fits the look and occasion. Symmetrical arrangements have a sense of formality and order, while asymmetrical arrangements often feel more relaxed and organic.
(6) Most importantly, be mindful of the overall size and scale of centerpiece arrangement to ensure it’s proportionate to table size, and leaves room for place settings and serving dishes. Furthermore, allow your guests to enjoy uninterrupted views to foster great conversations by temporarily relocating taller centerpiece decorations.

Rustic Elegant Easter Table Place Settings

Our rustic Easter table settings exude simplicity and elegance. The grapevine wreaths double as plate chargers, adding the ideal rustic touch to our elegant rustic Easter table. I used our everyday white dinnerware and added these new lion head bowls to serve as charming nests for my DIY Easter eggs. To complete our rustic elegant table setting, linen napkins are delicately tucked into adorable porcelain bunny napkin rings.

Learn how to make these easy DIY Decoupaged Easter egg tutorial here.

Designer Tips:
(1) Think outside the box when it comes to plate chargers. Consider using grapevine wreaths, greenery wreaths, or chunky wood slices.
(2) Another option would be to take an inexpensive plate charger and cover with fabric to coordinate the theme of your tablescape.
See how I used hyacinth trays as plate chargers, as well as fabric covered chargers for a Summer tablescape here. There’s also a fun candlestick holder idea you may have never thought of to found there too!

Another view of our Rustic Elegant Easter Table to show you how I decorated the leaning ladder for Easter. I have a tablecloth and throw blanket on one run of the ladder, while the top run has a faux draping bush and magnolia wreath topped with a pastel-colored Easter Egg wreath.

Dining Room Hutch Easter Decor

I kept our dining room hutch Easter decor simple and rustic as well. On the top shelf, rustic wire cloches feature a bird’s nest with Easter eggs in one, and a miniature grapevine wreath with a center candle in the other. On the opposite side, there’s a stack of unbound books adorned with wooden corbels and a faux ivy plant.

The middle shelf proudly showcases a garden scene that I painted over 25 years ago using pastel medium, flanked by two carved wooden candlesticks with white candles.

Nestled in one corner of the bottom shelf, underneath a glass cloche, is a stack of robin’s egg blue porcelain pasta bowls. A simple miniature dough bowl brimming with pastel-colored Easter eggs is in the center, and a trio of pewter Easter bunnies is in the opposite corner.

You can see how I’ve decorated my sideboard and hutch throughout the years here.

Designer Tips:
(1) When decorating a dining room hutch, be mindful of the overall design composition to ensure a harmonious and balanced display. Pay careful attention to the scale and proportion of items being used so that they complement one another, not compete.
(2) Create a focal point using a statement piece, such as a piece of artwork, mirror, or a statement accessory item. And then build the rest of your display around that.
(3) Add accessory items that complement your focal point and complete the story you’re telling. Incorporate different items in a mixture of textures and colors in varying heights and weight to create an interesting display.
(4) Periodically step back to assess your composition and make necessary adjustments to achieve a cohesive and visually balanced pleasing look.

See how I layered Christmas word art directly over the pastel painting for the holidays here.
