Setting the Scene: Whimsical Decor Ideas
To set the scene of my Fall Harvest Hayride Thanksgiving Kids Table, I first started with the end goal in mind. My goal was to create a Thanksgiving tablescape that would amaze and delight my guests of all ages, but particularly, the younger guests. I wanted them to feel like they had their very own special table.
I started by adorning the table with a rustic plaid throw in lieu of a tablecloth. Next came the whimsical centerpiece. This Fall Harvest Hayride centerpiece consists of a harvest wagon, hay bales, cute little woodland creatures, sunflowers, pumpkins, and a bucket of apples.

Designer Tips:
(1) Think outside the box when it comes to tablecloths. Consider using a throw blanket, scarf, or even a quilt in lieu of a tablecloth; (2) Create adorable personalized name place cards to delight young guests and make them feel special; (3) To add a little extra sparkle, consider adding a few battery-operated fairy lights.
Personalized Table Place Settings
Make each table place setting pretty and memorable. Consider having a placemat, charger, seasonal dinnerware and napkins to tie in with your tablescape scheme. Also, a name place card holder adds that extra touch.
To complete the theme of my Fall Harvest Hayride Thanksgiving Kids Table, each table place setting has a round burlap ruffled placemats, black and white buffalo plate chargers, Fall themed plates, and of course, Thanksgiving themed napkins. To add a touch of whimsy and personalization, I then added the cutest personalized hay bale name place cards. This extra touch delights young guests and makes them feel special.

Thanksgiving Day Snack & Dessert Station
In addition to the visual appeal of a fun and unexpected tablescape, another way to delight your young guests is by having a Thanksgiving Snack and Dessert Station that compliments your holiday table theme. I guarantee your young guests will love the treats and that you’ve created a special snack and dessert station just for them!

Crystal of Sweet Valley Acres is a northern girl, living in Canada. She’s been an artist and dreamer since birth, and loves creating beautiful spaces in her home and garden for her family and friends to enjoy. She also loves pushing her builder husband, Bentley, to his very limits when it comes to building and renovating. After 33 years of marriage and taking on 11 homes that were the worst house on the block and turning them into show stoppers along with three new builds later, Crystal has a wealth of knowledge and experience. In addition, she has won many awards for garden design and used to own a home and garden decor store for many years. This month, Crystal is showing us how she’s decorated her outdoor dining area and front porch for the Thanksgiving holiday…and it’s fabulous! How about that view?
Sheri of Savvy in the Suburbs, lives in Texas, not too far from me and we’re friends in real life! Sheri had a very successful interior design business for many years and is now enjoying fluffing her own nest, spending time with her family – three married children and five grandchildren, and growing in her relationship with the Lord. She relishes family time and believes in the old adage: God first, family second, all else third. She’s enjoying the opportunity to share this truth as well as her years of design expertise and love of all things home. This month, Sheri is sharing her gorgeous French Farmhouse Dining Room…and it’s fantastic!

Kristy, Kristy, Kristy…can I be a child again? I would have been absolutely delighted to have been seated at that table and would have been gazing with wonder at all that you created. Those woodland creatures are absolutely adorable. The hay bale name place cards are so sweet and perfectly in theme. The snack station is not only beautiful it is so smart so that the little ones can have a few little nibbles if they are hungry. I love how you carried the theme to this area too with your wood cake stands. The deer droppings made me laugh out loud! Ahahahaa!!! Even though we cannot go back in time, as an adult, I would have been elbowing one of the kids out of their seat to enjoy this beautiful tablescape. Hahaha bad adult!!!
Awe, thank you so very much for your kind words and compliments, Crystal! I would love to have you as a guest at my home!
